Growing up in her hometown of Pontianak, Yulia watched and helped her mom make choipan to sell, learning the craft and flavors that would later become her specialty. In 2010, Yulia and her family immigrated to the Bay Area, bringing with them the traditions and tastes of home.
Over time, word about her delicious choipan began to spread, and she was invited to contribute them to a church fundraising event. What started as a simple way to support the community quickly turned into something more. The response was overwhelming, and many began asking how they could order more. Encouraged by the enthusiastic feedback, Yulia decided to continue making and selling her choipan. Since then, what began as a small community effort has grown into a beloved offering, with Yulia sharing the taste of her hometown one batch of choipan at a time.
