Mama Judy
Mama Judy is the passion project of Singapore-born chef Judy Wee, whose authentic home-style cooking quickly earned a devoted following across the Bay Area. After moving to California in 2007, Judy began sharing the comforting flavors of her native Singapore through small-batch online orders and pop-ups, eventually opening Mama Judy Singapore Hawker in Alameda. The restaurant became an instant sensation, drawing long lines for signature dishes like Nyonya laksa, curry puffs, and Hokkien prawn noodles. Although the brick-and-mortar restaurant closed after a brief run because the overwhelming demand made it difficult to maintain the personal, home-cooking approach she values, Judy continues to be celebrated for bringing genuine Singaporean hawker flavors and warm hospitality to her community.
