Shiok Singapore Kitchen is making a triumphant return to downtown Menlo Park, reclaiming its place as a cherished community fixture with a new location at 625 Oak Grove Avenue. Founded in 1999 by Rosalind Tan and her family, the restaurant is now led by her son, Dennis Lim, who has successfully transitioned the business through decades of growth and recent displacement. Celebrated for its authentic Peranakan heritage, the restaurant continues to serve traditional Singaporean recipes that have drawn everyone from local regulars to international dignitaries, including Singapore’s Prime Minister. After a sudden departure from its longtime Chestnut Street home due to a building sale, Lim persevered through a temporary stint in Redwood City and a dedicated crowdfunding effort to secure this expansive 2,700-square-foot space. The new venue features a larger dining room and an upgraded kitchen, signaling Lim’s long-term commitment to the neighborhood and ensuring that signature dishes like laksa and Hainanese chicken rice remain a flavorful bridge between Singapore and the Peninsula
